Thorough Eye Exams

Comprehensive Eye Exams for Patients of All Ages

We offer thorough eye exams to evaluate your glasses prescriptions and the health of your eyes. This exam includes digital retinal imaging to detect early signs of vision problems, serious eye conditions and diseases, and overall health issues. Many vision conditions can be corrected through a comprehensive eye exam, followed by the correct prescription for glasses or contact lenses. Even if you haven’t noticed any changes in your vision, it is still recommended to have your eyes examined every year.

Eye Exam Procedure

  • Annual exams consist of simple tests to determine your general eye health and overall vision issues.

  • We will ask you questions to understand more about your lifestyle and how it affects your vision.

  • We will look for any signs of vision or eye health issues and recommend treatment alternatives.

  • Visual acuity tests (reading letters on a chart) will be performed to determine vision acuity.

  • If deemed necessary, we may dilate your eyes in order to see as much of the eye as possible.

  • If you are diabetic, please be prepared for your eyes to be dilated. After dilation, your eyes will be sensitive to light and blurry for a few hours. Some patients prefer to drive themselves home, others bring a driver.

  • Following a diabetic eye exam, an eye health report will be sent to the doctor that manages your diabetes.

Get Your Eyes Checked Regularly

Did you know that eye exams can detect more than just changes in your vision? Eye exams can also detect glaucoma, diabetes, and even life-threatening conditions like a brain tumor. Many people wait until they experience symptoms to see an eye doctor, however many eye problems have no symptoms. Annual eye exams are an important part of your overall health routine.

  • Contact Lens Wearers

Contact lenses are medical devices, so annual exams are recommended to review of your prescription.

  • Diabetic

If you are Diabetic, a yearly eye exam is recommended to help prevent most diabetes-related blindness.

  • Babies

Babies should have an eye exam at six months, between two and three years of age, and before kindergarten.

  • Children

Children should get an eye exam once a year to detect vision problems that may affect learning and behavior.

  • Adults

An annual eye exam is recommended for most adults, even if you’ve had laser vision correction or good vision.

  • Seniors

Seniors should get their eyes checked annually to detect cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
